Greenhouse area detection in Guanzhong Plain, Shaanxi, China: spatio-temporal change and suitability classification

The extensive use of greenhouses has brought soared economic benefits for farming practitioners in China and an overview the spatio-temporal distribution is great interest to agricultural decision-makers. In this study, Landsat image based greenhouse maps Guanzhong Plain, Shaanxi, were made using random forest classification algorithm through visual interpretation on Google Earth Engine. 7-year's changes areas investigated (i.e. 2000, 2003, 2006, 2010, 2013, 2015 2019) with yearly overall accuracy more than 90%. results showed that total area Plain demonstrated increasing trend, from 5.92 km2 2000 194.42 2019 a considerable growth between 2010 2015. dominant drivers increase are largely attributed government policy as well profitability. shifts central eastern regions Plain.
